Speaking at the Annual Reunion Dinner
( Photo by : Mr. LOH YIT LOCK )
The 1954 Annual Re-union Dinner of the Kajang High School Old Boys' Association was held at the Lee Wong Kee Garden Cafe on Saturday , 3 rd April . There were 169 members and guests present, including the Hon'ble Mentri Besar, Inche Othman bin Mohammed and Mrs. Othman , the Hon'ble the British Advicer, Mr. F. V. Duckworth , the District Officer Ulu Langat, Mr. J. L. M. Gorrie , and the Presidents of the Victoria Institution and St. Johns Old Boys' Associations.
After the Loyal Toasts , Inche Abdul Aziz bin Haji Abdul Majid ,delivered his presidential speech and he said, inter alia :
" There is one great characteristic of the Kajang High School Old Boys of which I feel proud to speak about , and that is the goodwill, broad friendliness ,and the total absence of any communal consciousness which have always existed among ourselves. It was only last night when I was affectionately referred to as an elder brother by an eminent Chinese Old Boy of the school . Frankly, I cannot overestimate the value of this sentiment. I call it our greatest asset, greater even than a blazing record of successes in other fields of activities or a substantial bank balance. In these days of conflicting ideologies and perplexing political doldrums ,the Old Boys of the Kajang High School can justly feel proud that they stand apart as a shining example of racial concord and true community spirit. I hope that this will endure the ravages of time and will develop till it becomes a citadel upon which a true common citizenship for this fair land of ours can be founded. I look forward to it with hope and confidence ,and earnestly commend to our Sports Secretary that he should form several Kajang High School Old Boys' teams free from all vestiges of racial and communal consideration to take part in the various leagues in the Ulu Langat District ."
After the speeches ,the presentation of the Abdul Aziz Challenge Trophy took place. PUAN HIJJAH KAMARIAH ( bold - mine ) ,wife of the President, presented the trophy to the Sports Captain of the Old Boys' Association ..................

THE KAJANG HIGH SCHOOL,SELANGOR - LEST WE FORGET !
DATO ABDUL AZIZ bin HAJI ABD. MAJID
C 1950
MESSAGE FROM YANG BERHORMAT DATO ABDUL AZIZ,
( Acting Mentri Besar, N. S., and President of the O. B. A )
I wish to thank Mr. Ng Bow Poo for the privilege of sending a message to the next issue of the School Magazine, and I have great pleasure in doing so.
We are all too familiar with the word " school " to denote a group of whales. The same word is used again to mean an institution in which a group of children are being taught or are learning to equip themselves for the duties they owe to society and mankind.
The whales are the largest inhabitants of the sea, while human beings are the noblest creation inhabiting the land. There may be other reasons for this choice of the word, but I am no scholar - and no whales can become one - that is my defence.
A school does not consist of bricks ,mortar , maps and set-squares which are generally part of it , but of the culture and the ennobling ideals that it can and does continue to give to those who have been or still are within it; above all , a school means its traditions, and these traditions depend upon the past and present boys . The Kajang High School has built up traditions of its own. These are now the heritage of the present boys and theirs to guard jealously ,maintain and enrich.
The Old Boys of the school, too, have an important filial duty towards the " benign mother " and her present family. It is their duty to do all that lies in their power and in the spirit of a truly dutiful child to assist the mother in her solemn duty towards her present children .Only by this means can a school become the hallowed institution which we all expect it to mean and imply. To achieve this ,a firm link berween the past and the present must be maintained ,and there is no better means to accomplish this than by the service that a school magazine can give. No Old Boy of the school, therefore, should go without his copy of the Kajang High School Magazine, if a love for the " mother " is to be maintained and perpetuated .
To the School Magazine ,I wish the very best of success ,and to the school I wish an abiding and everlasting fame .
ABDUL AZIZ bin HAJI ABDUL MAJID .
